Q: What is Apellix Academy and what’s included?
A: Apellix Academy is the operator training program included with every Apellix drone purchase. It combines comprehensive remote instruction with hands-on field training to certify new operators on their Apellix drones. No prior drone or aviation experience is required to begin. Apellix Academy is included free of charge with each drone purchase.
The beauty of the remote aspect of Apellix Academy is that you can always login again and again to refresh your skills and expand your knowledge base. Some assets owners also have their pilots re-take the Apellix Academy online certification course each year.
Q: Is training included when I buy a drone, or is it a separate cost?
A: Apellix Academy access, for a defined number of users, is included with your system. Optional upgrades, such as additional seats, advanced modules, or bespoke training programs, are available as well.
Q: How soon after purchase can I start training?
A: Your team can typically start Academy training within a few days of your order being processed and user accounts being created. This means operators can complete the online aspect of their onboarding before the drone is shipped or picked up from our Jacksonville headquarters.
Q: How do I enroll my team, and how many operators can I train per drone?
A: Your sales representative will facilitate the enrollment of you and each of your drone pilots. While each system includes a standard number of Apellix Academy seats, you can train multiple operators per drone, and you can expand user counts as your business grows.
Q: Can I train additional or replacement operators later?
A: Yes, Apellix Academy is designed for ongoing workforce changes as you hire new pilots. When you add new personnel or need to replace operators, you can quickly assign them Academy access so they reach operational proficiency. Simply reach out to Apellix for additional licenses to Apellix Academy.
Q: Is Apellix training remote, in-person, or both?
A: Your training begins online with Apellix Academy, with a multiple module training course, complete with quizzes and a certificate. The training culminates when you pick up your drone or have your drone delivered and receive additional in-person, hands-on training.
Q: Is the training self-paced or scheduled?
A: Most Academy courses are self-paced so your team can train around operational demands, work flow, and project schedules. We complement this with hands-on training once you’ve received your certificate from the online portion of Apellix Academy.
Q: Do I need an FAA Part 107 certificate to operate commercially, and does the Academy help me get one?
A: In the United States, commercial drone operations require an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate for the responsible pilot in command. Apellix Academy training is in compliance with, but does not supplement, FAA Part 107.
Q: Does Apellix Academy issue a certificate or credential upon completion?
A: Yes, operators who complete designated learning paths receive an Apellix Academy certificate of completion that documents their training on Apellix systems and procedures. Many buyers use these credentials internally to verify training, support safety audits, and demonstrate competence to customers, regulators, and insurance stakeholders, while still relying on authorities like the FAA for formal regulatory licenses.
